Our Mission and Vision
Our Mission:
“To know Christ, to make him known, and to know each other.”
This is our mission at St Johns Wesleyan. All we do, how we live, is based on these three elements.
1) To know Christ:
This is our primary goal. To be in relationship with the God of the universe. God made us to be in relationship with him, and through Christ’s birth, life, death, & resurrection, we are able to enter into that relationship we where created to have. We seek to know Christ through our preaching, teaching, singing, and through our living.
2) To make him known:
We strive to make Christ known in and though our lives. We are committed to evangelism; making Christ known to the world we live in. Christ’s command for us before he left was to go into all the world and preach the gospel; making disciples. We are committed to making disciples of Christ. Growing people in their relationship with God.
3) To know each other:
The importance of community is huge for us at St Johns Wesleyan. Part of our relationship with Christ is manifested through our relationships with others. We know Christ by knowing each other. We make every opportunity and encourage people to spend time with each other outside of our regular meeting times. We are one big family.
Our Vision:
“To build transformational leaders in every home.”
What does this mean?
We believe that strong, healthy families are the building blocks for a strong healthy community. We believe that it takes an intentional effort to shape the lives of each family member in a way that is productive and lasting.
Transformational leadership is leadership where Christ is at the center. Our faith is not something that we only exercise on Sunday. It is to be an integral part of everyday life. The Bible provides instructions for optimum results in our day-to-day living. Transformational leaders live out God’s Word and are willing to teach these principles to their family and others on a daily basis. Deuteronomy 6:4-9 gives us a strong mandate to do just that: “…Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up…”
Through each arm of ministry at St Johns Wesleyan Church we purpose to equip people to be this kind of a leader.
