Romans 12:1-2 says. “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

We recognize that spiritual formation happens with the entire body and that spiritual transformation happens not based on a curriculum or class but rather as we surrender our will to God. However, as Paul says in Romans chapter twelve we also recognize that educating our mind plays a big role in the spiritual formation of an individual. Although spiritual formation happens with life our ministry of Spiritual Formation is heavily focused on the Christian education of the individual. Opportunities for Spiritual Formation at St Johns Wesleyan include

  • Sunday School – For all ages. We have classes for toddlers, elementary, youth, young adults, adults, and seniors.
  • Bible Study Groups – While we do not have established groups meeting indefinitely, we do encourage everyone to participate in Bible Study Groups as opportunities present themselves. We will often sponsor eight to twelve week Bible Study Groups as people are interested.
  • Youth Group – Our youth group meets Wednesday nights at 7pm and is a time for not only social activity but biblical training as well. We believe that our youth are more than capable of renewing their mind with serious relavent topics and issues.
  • Mid-Week Children’s Program – We offer a midweek children’s program on Wednesday nights 7:00pm-8:30pm. This is an opportunity for young children to learn more about the Bible and for the spiritual formation of their lives to start at a very young age.
